A humanoid character (such as an android, furry, monster girl, humanoid mecha, elf, etc) being depicted as an ordinary human (or at least more human-like than usual).
This typically involves the reduction, if not outright removal, of non-human features such as body fur, horns, wings, colored skin or pointy ears. With furry characters, they are often turned into humans with animal ears if not also a tail.
For characters that were not already humanoid, such as animals, creatures, and non-humanoid robots, use personification instead.
