Allow me to explain the joke. Media Animal Festival is a play on Media Arts festival. In 1998, Kujira no Chouyaku (Glassy Ocean, lit. Leap of the Whale) won the animation award at the Media Arts Festival, and Serial Experiments Lain and Doraemon: Nobita no Nankai Daibouken were runners up. So the whale pictured represents Glassy Ocean, and the cat is supposed to be a hyperrealistic Doraemon.
