This is quite epic, indeed. But i feel, that the lack of some classic characters kinda ruin it for me(china, cirno, letty, rumia and others of the kind mostly bosses of stage 1-2).

Hands up, how many of you did not expect to see Meiling next when you saw Sakuya's knife flying? Making it Flandre's wing instead was an act of originality. (Not like leaving Meiling out completely would be a good thing, though.)

Hahaha, sorry if i led you in the wrong way. What i meant was, the characters that we usually see in pictures, games, and such. Characters that are actually quite common for the touhou series. Yup, saying "classic" its a bit missleading. But hey, i dont feel the PC98 touhou series are the classic ones, they are just the first ones. Classic touhou is any shoot them up =P

But anyway, my goodness. This is a great song and the MAD is equally excellent - definitely one of my favorite interpretations of the original "script" for this remix. I am absolutely in awe of the syncing and transitions in it. Wonderfully designed.
Did the artist use a 3D modeling program, or was it all drawn from scratch inside flash? I'm inclined to think the latter since I don't see any indication of 3D stuff in the video description (which would just make it even more impressive.)

This is impressive, but for some reason it does absolutely nothing for me. Maybe I've just become jaded as a Touhou fan over the past three or four years. That isn't to say it isn't good work, or that I dislike it, though.
I am not trying to tag every accessory worn by the silhouettes, but have tagged some very prominent or recurring objects and acts (falling, scarlet_devil_mansion, scythe, yin_yang).

No no, it works better with the silhouettes. Otherwise the artist would have to deal with the enormous uncanny valley that plagues 3d adaptations of anime-style characters. Look at how much money Sony put into that Final Fantasy movie... and yet the characters still look weird.

As near as I can tell, the figure remains sleeveless throughout, with the - cuffs, I think is the word? - on her wrists present all the time. This would likely shut out long-sleeved Rumia.
The detail that I wouldn't have been able to pick out without viewing other versions of Bad Apple was making out who was slicing through the tracer line of Reisen's shot... it looks to be Momiji.
So many great moments in this, I'm still a little awed.

Checking out Youtube comments of 【Touhou】Bad Apple!! ＰＶ【Stylized Shadow Art】 would not necessarily hurt -- contrary to what one would expect, lots of them actually make sense. The Rumia vs. just Sakuya question has been debated since I posted my former comment here, and you appear to be right. So, no Rumia at all?

Also, there's no reason for Rumia to be included because she doesn't have connections with shown characters (the only part where she can be included is the very beginning, and I don't see a good way to do it).

You don't really have to like touhou to actually like this awesome video. Music is excellent and the video was well planned and finished in an outstanding visual show.
i thought this was cool and everything but judging from everyones comments, i didnt grasp the scope of how awesome it was at all. i guess im just not up to par on my touhou knowledge. where would i go if i wanted to find out more? like is there some sort of backstory? i only know a few of the people and have played like 2 of the games.
Words are not enough to describe the awesomeness of this video... Every time you watch or read about it, you discover something different. I watch it, like, 5 times a day on my Ipod, and I never get tired. Kudos to the artist.
I don't know anything about Touhou either. But I found a English-subtitled version of this video, and, wow, that was depressing. I would never imagine such lyrics for this song.

I *think* the reason the artist left out so many of the low level bosses is because...they really don't have too much to differentiate them from each other when you make them shadows. Cirno has the ice wings, Rumia has the arms out pose, Kisume's in a bucket (Though it was made before SA)..Almost everyone in this video is readily recognizable by their clothes or their accessories. If it weren't for the Prismrivers being so linked to their instruments, I'd bet they wouldn't be there.
For people who don't know the story behind the characters choices, this video and most previous bad apple!! PVs are responses to a rough MS Paint storyboard initially made by a guy who requested people to animate it as he had no such talent himself. Nope, it's not rumia. If you read all the comments (or pay enough attention) you see first of all the clothes doesnt match to rumia's, also you can see the wrist bands of sakuya from the very beggining.

I recognized far more of those characters than I have any right to. I feel like I should seek out and actually play some of the Touhou games once and for all just so I can validate my enjoyment of the characters.
