Not in the manga. In the manga, it was just a bandaged stub. They added a wooden arm (which seems to work just like a real arm for Kukaku) in the anime. Dunno why. I suspect censorship. The anime guy seems to have hang-ups about characters losing limbs. Chad and Jidanbo, for example.

I gotta say, that damn prosthetic almost killed my amputee fetish fix...
