Oh yes, it's clear that the story takes place in current times (there's also the fact that the fall of the Soviet Union is often brought up), I just always found it funny how the admiral and the rest of the admiralty wore IJN-era uniforms despite being in the present times, and the fact that this flashback shows that they wore JMSDF uniform in the past implies that it's not just an artistic choice from Ido but that there's an in-universe reason for that.

Oh boy, Ido is gonna get serious any moment now.....

I feel that i missed this somehow.

Going by the story, the JMSDF still exists, just that the shipgirl division uses IJN uniforms and ranks, probably because that's what the girls themselves had.

Presumably the same would be the case with the Kriegsmarine and the Regia Marina.

I re-read it every so often, it was both one of the most awesome fics out there and simultaneously the most disappointing when unfinished. (planefag doesn't pay denbts etc)
