If I recall, there was a story about a U-Boat sent to Japan carrying gold that was lost. Don't know if it was just a story or if it actually happened. Wars and secret gold makes for fun stories though. You'd have tales of the Confederates doing similar things way back when. Lost shipments that may have made all the difference, that sort of thing.

Considering that there seems to be no other places to lay out the futons, yes, they probably do a heck of a job cleaning up every night.
