Joushi is the worm that burrows into one's brain. Also known as Houko.
Joushi takes the form of a Taoist priest that pesters its host with graying hair, bad eyes and wrinkles. Its job is to report the host's bad deeds to Heaven, which means whittling away at their lifespan.
