Isn't the original problem that her adoptive kids were just playing "house" with a udon ball like a doll and calling it their "baby", and she assumed it was actual adultery? I.E. there is no original problem other than Altera's massive overreaction?

Well yeah, the normal "problem" is actually non-existant but in Altera's eyes the problem is who the kid was made with which Jeanne wouldn't explain since she has no ears.

The fox ears would point Altera, if not to Tamamo, then at Tamamo Cat, Sheba, Osakabehime or Gozen Suzuka, but the problem is all of them have been all but inexistent through this manga (I think only Cat has made a single cameo) and none has ever been seen with Helena, so none of them works to set the punchline up.
