The Eight Consciousnesses refers to the five normal senses of humans, supplemented by the mind, defilements of the mind, and finally the fundamental store-house consciousness, which is the basis of the other seven.

Whereas the Eight Trigrams (Bagua) refers to the five elements, plus the heaven and for some reason, the lake, to represent the fundamental principles of reality.

Feng shui stuffs. There's a connection between the two, but I don't know if they're related or not.
