Well, if we're going to apply logic, then the fauna there doesn't seem to be one you'd expect from a lake, I think. Of course, there are no oceans in Gensokyo, though. Anyway, in SaBND special Cirno tries to freeze the Misty Lake for quite a long time, sadly - with no success.
