Artist's commentary
Hang in There, Kogasa-san 1725
There was also some glutinous rice sausage(?)-type stuff. It was incredibly tasty.
I was actually at odds about whether to draw today's story. Since these strips are also read in Taiwan, the person who was good enough to offer these to me will see this, and they might be disappointed. However, I figured this would be a perfect chance to use this artist's commentary to talk about provisions, so I decided to draw it.
I receive all sorts of provisions at Comiket and other display/sale events. For myself, I'm very grateful, and I like to receive everything I can. However, when multiple people give me perishable items that have to be eaten right then and there, at that stage, I draw the line.
This time around, it happened this was the only person who gave me such food, I hadn't prepared any lunch, and there was no after-party planned after the con, so I accepted it.
If the perishable food is something I can't finish off, I have no choice but to throw it away. Naturally, i couldn't finish off all the food this time, either, so I shared with with people in circles I know, and we were somehow able to empty the container.
I don't want to throw away accepted gifts if I can help it, but my stomach has its limits.
Owing to the nature of a convention, sometimes I've been forced to ignore the food for a long period of time, so it's become spoiled and inedible.
When I eat these provisions, it's common for me to do so several days later.
I'm very much aware that everyone who offers me provisions puts their heart into them. There may be some who think of me as selfish, but I'd like to have you understand that when I refuse perishable provisions, this is why.
Sorry to put such a story into a 4-panel strip I want to have you enjoy. (^^;)
Anyway, changing the subject, but Iyo-Shikoku Fest is being held today in Matsuyama. My regards to all the attendees!
