We were going to get to see a 10,000-tonne dock that I'm told you normally don't get to see, so Naz-san was looking forward to it immensely.

I wasn't even looking at the instant they hit, so I didn't really know about it. We thought we'd all stay there, but we reasoned that, rather than no one seeing the tour, if those who could go went, Naz-san could ask for them stories, plus it would become strip material. So the Naz person alone remained at the scene, and for the time being, we headed for the meeting place.

Naturally, we also called for an ambulance!

    "Detained as witnesses."

    Ain't it sad, Naz-san?

    Noble Naz-san is noble.

Last time i witnessed an accident, I ran away. Didn't want to get involved with law enforcement in any way. The whole "not my business" thing.

Helped that it wasn't a major accident (i.e.: no serious injuries), or my conscience would never let me rest even up till today.

whoa that's actually a rare thing to do, being a witness wholeheartedly
all my life till now, i only see people avoid being a witness because "It's a bother" (i too once felt that way)

after an accident happen to myself, then i know it was so foolish of me that i'm one of those who didn't want to care for someone's safety

at any rate, Good job Nazrin

Reader-added tags include "The main body's observing with all its might too" and "Naz-san bears the sorrow alone".

The survey prepares to roll to the rescue:

Which have you ever called for?
    • Taxi
    • Ambulance
    • Firetruck
    • Police
    • Qracian

(Pronounced "Kurashian", an abbreviation of "Kurashi ni anshin wo teikyou dekiru kigyou", "A company that can offer living with peace of mind", Qracian provides water supply/sewerage construction and repair service.)

I think it's wiser to help the victim as you can and leave without any trace.. I don't mind to help but i hate the whole 'helper bears the full responsibility until the victim family came at the hospital' thingy..

That may be wiser, but it doesn't fulfill a witness's legal obligations in my neck of the woods.

Poor Nazrin, the one who was [apparently] looking the most towards it... I never really presencied an accident on my entire life, and I hope I never do.

By the by, is the text under Nazrin's bubble speech on panel 2 a "Yatta" or "yada"?

Half of cases of bystanding rather than help is because people bother about victim's family will sue helper in case if helper fail to save victim, not just shock or fear of accident. That's why exists Good samaritan law.

I've never was witness of some serious accident, but was once victim in traffic accident on bicycle. Good thing - drug store was nearby and could patch fresh wounds quickly myself. Got scar from deep bruise on elbow.

That law needs to be known, especially where i hailed from.. A little kindness will go a very long way..

I think that prosecution part applies mostly to US soil. In Europe such cases are rare and far between. People don't tend to sue someone that is just trying to give assistance. Especially if it is about life and death.

I have heard of maybe one such case happening (from memory at least) that wasn't in the US and the judge had enough of the family and threatened that if they continued harassing the person that had only been trying to help they would be fined. (btw, the person that got in the accident was alive and personally against the prosecution)

This happened in France somewhere between 2009-2010 if I remember correctly.

The most infamous cases are in China because of a dumbass judge setting a precedent.

Yes, the so-called 'good Samaritan' lied in the landmark case, but the ruling, or rather, the grounds for the ruling is asshat backwards.

"Because 'common logic' says you wouldn't help a person unless you're the one who caused him trouble in the first place." *FACEPALM*

It got to a point that an old man who fell out of the bus had to scream "No, none of you pushed me over, it's my own fault" before anybody would help him.

I remember in China there was a little girl being run over by a car and as if it wasn't enough the driver reversed back and tried to kill her. Nobody except for the old lady went to help. What the fuck.

I guess it's cheaper to pay compensation than rehab. The world is insane.

The sadder part was most people's responce on that case was they rather not get scammed than saving a life.
