WTH a Daisengen Suuankou (Three Big Dragons with Four Concealed Triplets) double yakuman on your first game? Geez, Reimu, you're damn lucky.

    ...I haven't ever got a Daisengen yet.

Beginners luck is scary. When I was starting I got two... Now that I really know the rules I can only pull out a little dragon (two dragon tripletes and a double)

I know when I was a beginner I used to go for yakuman hands that were easy to remember the rules for (kokushi musou, tsuuiisou, etc.) rather than smart hands based on discards and whatnot. I remember getting tsuuiisou once within the first month of playing, but as I got better I just plain didn't go for them - I think this kind of mentality could also contribute to so-called "beginners' luck".

I think you guys are right. I've managed to get a couple tiles away for Daisangen a few times, and I was always happy to settle for a Shousangen instead, since it was the 'smart' thing to do.

Nowadays I generally aim for Mentanpin or something involving chained sequences.

Incidentally, my first yakuman was a Suuankou. Pity it was a double pair wait, but hey, that's easier to go out, I guess.

Most bullshit moment: I was the dealer and leading by a fair amount of points, when suddenly someone pulled a Hand of Man and knocked me down to last place. Sheesh.

I played against a user called "Danbo", who had a tenhou.
Then, he declared double riichi (furiten) and lost.

Was the game played on Tenhou, perchance?

Why am I doing this again?
I don't really understand the rules either...
--double yakuman!! There's a 'limit' to the maximum number of points you can score in mahjong. This limit is known as "yakuman", and is awarded only to certain rare hands. Some hands can be interpreted as several of these rare hands at once, and are thus worth several times the normal limit. Reimu scored a double-limit here.
Ron!! Declaration of victory by picking up another person's discard.

Daisangen, Suuankou-- Big Three Dragons, Four Concealed Triplets. Pictures. It's sorta like getting a Royal Straight Flush in poker. Or two of them, really.
