Incidentally, every one of those bank notes is worth one trillion dollars. In Zimbabwean currency, that is. In 2008 (about a year before they gave up on the currency) all the money in that picture might be able to get you a nice suit.
After multiple blunders in economic and monetary policies, Mister Robert Mugabe had caused the hyperinflation of the Zimbabwean Dollar. An unofficial figure in January 2009 pegged the inflation rate at 6.5x10^108. Even though as a consequence of such hyperinflation the citizens of Zimbabwe struggled in hunger, he lived a lavish life, hosting parties that cost more than 1.2 million US dollars.
