At this point, I think it's less "forms" and more "outfits". Just look at the chapter title pages/eyecatches whatever they're called; Kubo can't resist drawing new clothes.

He stated once that he simply loves designing clothes for his characters, so that's not really far off. I think he really does love fashion and stuff
I do dig the new threads, though. Actually, Ichigo's new look in general has been a big improvement to his old run-of-the-mill shinigami oufit.

Frankly, Kubo is terrible at keeping track of the exact size and shape of the weapons. Zangetsu in particular tends to have a very nebulous size whenever it gains a new shape, so don't expect consistency until Kubo develops a feel for it. (And even then, don't expect a lot of it.)
