Honestly If they don't have a dlc where mega starmie isn't just a permanent, sentient organism capable of human speech you can just find on the map sometimes spouting lore rich riddle like nonsense like mr. Mushroom from hollow Knight then I will be mildly disappointed and NOT be doing the hoke poke.

I was wondering when someone would make that comparison (specifically, between Starman and Mega Starmie). I wonder, though: given that the Staryu line (including Mega Starmie) doesn't adhere to human-familiar gender modes, how would this work? I'm not being flippant with that question, either, I'm legitimately curious about how it'd work.

It does, starfish can reproduce sexually/asexually. Since Starmie is an alien, it is also most likely a hermaphrodite.
