Ah. Isn't this based on the legend of the white snake? I think it was a star-crossed lovers sort of story, but I don't remember anything other than that and maybe that the snake lived in a pond or well.
In their description, it's said that monsters from that area are way more docile, so I'm thinking that in order to get a man, they have to look for diferent ways to get them, in other words, change their looks to more attractive ones, IMO.
From what I can gather, the Monster Girls are fairly entrenched in Zipangu's culture and folklore and history. Thus, they are either more refined or more integrated into society there, or the people in Zipangu don't go HOLY F*** MONSTERTITS when an encounter happens... and the Monstergirls usually don't go HOLY F*** A GUY LET'S HAVE SEX! on the spot.

Well, the Zipangu monster girls are based on the asian Youkai, which from standard folklore were not all that monsterous or malicious, depending on the species, as their western variants. which would explain why these monster girls are less "RAWR I RAPE MEN FOLK," and more, "Mai Wifu" material.
Or, basically, a snake that became a woman, and then was sealed into a well forever because she fell in love with a man, because humans and monsters aren't supposed to mix.
I really love the lamia types, and have been waiting for one whose story and personality I can really buy into, but... The pained expression in the image of this one pretty much tells you this story isn't going to have a happy ending... I've always hated these "star-crossed lovers" stories, give me a happy ending, damnit!

Ah, so I did have the right idea. She probably DOEs get a happy end in this profile. Hate star-crossed lovers myself, for the same reason.
