Tag Alias: os -> os-tan

Posted under General

There are a lot but I got started with the following, and think I got their wikis (though not everything referencing them I'm sure):

create alias os -> os-tan
create alias 95 -> 95-tan
create alias 98 -> 98-tan
create alias 3.1 -> 3.1-tan
create alias 7 -> 7-tan
create alias 98se -> 98se-tan
create alias ce -> ce-tan
create alias me -> me-tan
create alias nt -> nt-tan
create alias vista -> vis-tan
create alias xp -> xp-tan
create alias xp_home -> xp_home-tan

As for Vista, is it Vista-tan or Vis-tan? Also, are all the remaining ones just a matter of -tan or do some not include the honorific in the name, or replace it with something else?

The OS-tan meme sort of petered out quite a bit after XP, and Vista was probably one of the least represented in her time. For aesthetics and consistency though, I'd vote towards vista-tan. It's a lot easier to search for as well.

A Google search will suggest the same thing: 196k results for "Vista-tan", and only 6.1k for "Vis-tan".

Well, I second this.

For the record, tags for the actual OSes exist already, such as windows_xp and windows_vista.

Oops, I see. Actually, I meant that it should be obvious from a single glance at a tag if it refers to an operating system or OS-tan (blame my wording). Thanks for pointing out.

Makes sense. And yeah as I looked at more recent operating system character tags, the sense of consistency in naming and design started to fade, so it got a bit messy.

I'll alias vis-tan to vista-tan and leave the rest as is.
