@Megamet
The first one has very bad foreshortening. His left arm is way too big.

The second one has pretty mediocre faciual expressions, for example in my opinion is the mouth too far up and then those not really good looking hands. Compare the digits of her right hand and you see that the middle finger and index finger are way too long imo.

The third one has the same problem as the first one with bad foreshortening. And because it is in the focus of the image, I cannot overlook this flaw.

The forth one is probably the worst image for bad foreshortening. Her whole leg is way too long and big.

The fifth is undeleted.

Not an approver but I'll try.

@nanami

post #2550420 - Might be a different artstyle but I can't notice anything very appealing about it. The shading is very flat compared to the other works by this artist and it lacks a lot of detail. Really borderline.

post #2556497 - Neck is really off in relation to the head and body, left shoulder is poorly drawn, muscles in the right hand are off, and the hips seem a little too long and suggest that the thighs don't connect smoothly to the rest of the body. Chin also juts out too far.

post #2557324 - Right cheek a little too large (maybe artstyle), left breast is oddly deformed compared to the right, ass juts out too far prominently, hipline should be shorter.

post #2557615 - Looks okay, but Kazagumo's face (specifically her eyes) is a touch off to the left.

So, what's wrong with these?

That artists's style is really off-putting when looking at all three of their deleted works. Even if the art demonstrates good anatomy and technique, the way that its put together looks weird and that can be a turn off. They're not off-topic so much as they're really just not fitting. That said, post #2568489 isn't so bad.

Off-putting? Not fitting? Really? Sorry, you're gonna have to do better than that.

OK, here's a more rigorous overview if it helps.

The first picture has an ugly and muddy background with a realistic style that doesn't serve to actually complement the design of the person in the middle foreground, and the design in both are realistic with proper anatomy but not necessary drawn to a form that would warrant upload on danbooru, as most approvers will ignore that sort of style of realism in the classical sense if other factors like good composition aren't there. While the second one is better, it still has some of that same muddy coloring, which for that one might be appropriate as based on the subject (rain, ghost); As the facial design is actually good in that one, it may likely be approved if someone wants to do so.

For comparison, there is another deleted image, post #1241250 from the same artist that is realistic but has a hideous face. The posts from the artist that were approved are both borderline, and both were approved by janitors that were later demoted. The conclusion that can be made is that Ayatonas is an artist that produces a lot of borderline material, and trained approvers will ignore it when comparing the color composition to the uploads on the site. There are a few images on the pixiv page that are more colorful and clearer art, which is what the site approvers usually favor, but most of those appear to exhibit the same borderline traits. I'd be wary of posting more of Ayatonas's work.

Ok, thanks for taking the time to write that up, now I understand better what you mean. For the record, the geisha one is my favorite of the two as well.

And sorry if I came across hostile, I've been in a pretty bad mood lately in RL.

Not looking to appeal this post (yet). One mod marked it as "poor quality" so I just want to know what's wrong with it since my mind says everything looks fine. Is it the lower body proportions in relation to the upper body? Or the orientation of her left foot?

Or perhaps it's his... commentary...? This is just a wild guess

Ehh, I personally think it looks fine despite the slightly small lower body. I think the perspective could use some work, but it's not really that bad. More of a borderline post than anything.

I'll probably try appealing it when I feel more confident or something.

The way I see it, if something looks even slightly off, it's probably better off not being uploaded. There were tons of posts that I've wanted to upload that I've decided against because of a really odd collarbone or something that might be barely noticeable.

At least, having that attitude has kept me from having a lot of deleted uploads.

Oh don't get me wrong, that's the same thing I did. Thing is though, sometimes I like something enough that I'll upload it anyway despite its' flaws in hopes it'll be accepted with enough leniency. My deletion rate was still very low when I got promoted to Contributor (around 3-4%) and since then I've still been careful about what I upload so things don't get flagged.

I think small flaws are fine. I've uploaded things with errors before: user:Mikaeri error and they still were accepted. Now, they're still at risk of being flagged later and deleted, but as long as there's still some merit in the original drawing I'm still willing to take risks. I've learned quite quickly from my first few uploads (since quite a number were deleted).

Well, perspective flaws are mostly the worst, since if spotted they tend to destroy the whole image. And here in my eyes, the lower body doesn't match with the chest and upwards.
And well, one image or less deleted isn't that important. So...deleted images are also there to learn for the future. Errors can still happen but for Contributors these upload errors are normally small.

Shrug. I don't think perspective flaws are that bad, although yeah they do throw off the image depending on how bad it is. Still though, I feel like it's one of those "I wouldn't approve it but I wouldn't flag it either" posts. Or maybe you would flag it if you saw a contributor up it, I'm not all too sure ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
