Can I know why these were rejected?

The point being made in that forum post was that if you’re not an Approver, you’re not approving posts, and therefore are not in a position to say why it wasn’t approved because you lack the ability to approve it. On the other hand, anyone can become knowledgeable about how the site works. The main problem with your comment was that it is misleading.
If a user is asking something like “Why is my post not approved when it has 10 likes?” or “But these (Contributor-uploaded) posts were approved!”, I think any knowledgeable user, not just Approvers, should be able to correct those kind of obvious misconceptions.

I don't see any problem with the quality of the illustrations or the tagging. Why is that really?
Disapproval is also only indifferent, or few people appreciate it in the first place, and I don't know why.
