Wiki: How to help— Tasks to do

What to do about the people who put as the image url in the artist entry the artist's profile picture (http://img13.pixiv.net/profile/k-haruka/1153847.jpg) instead of a normal image (http://img13.pixiv.net/img/k-haruka/1153847.jpg ), which is useless for Find Artist?

I did a scan of the artist database: 247 use a profile image instead of a normal image, and 1767 have a link to the pixiv profile but no pixiv image links. Either can be corrected automatically with a bit of work, but...

Since the artist history can't be relied upon to identify the culprit with the older entries, I guess there's no harm in going ahead and correcting the current ones myself sans notifications?

Yeah if it's older than a week or so, I don't think his script is set for it. Please feel free to fix any such entries. Reminds me I need to do this week's list soon...

BTW I just noticed the two URLs in your original post are the same thing. (Although the point you were making is still clear)

...Shoot. My script can correct/add the URLs for the two cases mentioned above, but using the API to do so (login,password_hash,id,artist[urls]) wipes the aliases. Artist queries don't even return that information!

What's up with that?

,{"group_id":null, "version":2, "name":"ikoo", "alias_id":null, "urls":["http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=135409"], "updater_id":32756, "id":42387, "is_active":true

Not sure what alias_id is supposed to be doing, since that artist does have an alias...

Ha. I think I'll wait and see if either of my tracs get any bites (#1112 and #1113) before I consider blanking 2000 alias/group fields... (though a lot of those don't have those to begin with)

Here's another to-do: medium-sized pixiv images (source:*pixiv.*_m.* order:id -bad_id). Most seem to actually be using the full size, but not all. I made a trac regarding this, but perhaps this list should be combed through anyway, changing the source for images with the same filesize and dimensions as the full size and tagging the true mediums with something like pixiv_medium.

I see this has been brought up before: forum #10897

See my comment on #1112. Basically, as it stands there's no way to use the API to update an artist without blanking that artist's aliases.

Just for the record, there are a few valid reasons to do such a thing: collaboratively drawn comics, artist parodies, and lineart colored by a different artist. Of course, a scan through the first few pages of arttags:>1 doesn't turn up a lot of such things, so I'm sure Pixiv-related mistagging is still a large problem, but it might not be as awful as 170 pages would indicate.

Ha, "just" 46 pages of arttags:>1 source:*pixiv.net/img. Looking at two random posts from that, both are instances of overlapping artist entries (like those listed in the long list above): Find Artist returns exactly two results--the two the post is tagged with.

People need to realize that that isn't the right thing to do. A Contributor in particular ought to know better...

Many of those pixiv images with more than 1 artist are really the work of more than one artist.
For example, it's popular on pixiv to post lineart and have other artists color it. The result is the property of both artists.

The issue in the original post has yet to be addressed here. Is this wonderful list of searches going to be put up in the wiki or not? At the very least, this (very wonderful) thread should be stickied.

I'll just sticky this for now.

About a month ago, I made a script that goes through source:*pixiv* arttags:0 and checks for artists who have more than one image on the site.

I just ran it again tonight and it made a text file that has about 975 Pixiv usernames (last month it was over 1200).

I can upload it if anybody wants to help out with it.

EDIT: Whoops, I forgot I still had it set to start 1200 posts in. Lemmie run it again.
EDIT 2: Corrected numbers.
