Why were these images tagged as pillarboxed? I didn't upload these images, so idk if I've missed any information. Before I edit these images' tags, I just want to ask to make sure. ๐ @Splash_Numbers

I'm guessing the guy thought it meant something else. that tends to happen sometimes (me with missing headwear back when it was still "No Hat")
that being said, this probably should've been asked in a Dmail instead of blasting him in the forums lol.

Sorry, that was my mistake. I use an auto-tagging tool for part of my tagging workflow, and I must have missed pillarboxed during review. That's entirely on me, and I'll be more careful checking auto-generated tags in the future.
@Splash_Numbers I wouldn't rely on those tools too much, especially when it ends up getting over half of the tags wrong like in post #11491209. I had to fix a few of yours myself, and I have no idea how many are still overtagged.
I personally find it takes more work to fix overtagged posts than undertagged ones. You have to read through the entire tag list and may even have to deal with implications that prevent you from removing tags right away (this is why I think the pop-up should show you the list of implications you're trying to remove instead of just telling you they exist). With undertagged posts, you can usually see right away what's isn't tagged, and even if you don't feel like reading the list to check, you can still try adding the tags anyway just to make sure it's tagged.
The closest thing I've used as an autotool is a text file with tags that apply to every post in whatever series I'm working on at the moment (really came in handy for pool #29514 since all the characters would usually have the same outfit in any one set). Sometimes I'll also include the chartags for each page of a comic so I don't have to look them up while uploading. But I'm still the one looking at each image and figuring out which tags apply.
The rules pertaining to tagging only care about the result, not the method, but I still think it's easier, more efficient, and less risky to tag things as you see them rather than look through a long list and search the entire image to make sure the tagged objects are actually in there.
P.S. This isn't meant as a public call-out. I'm just giving some advice that others, including you, may want to consider.
If this is why some other nonsensical tags are added to your posts, then you have more than a little bit of cleanup to do. Even just checking your 4 most recent posts shows a whole bunch of nonsensical tags (1, 2, 3, 4). A few mistakes happen, sure, but these kinds of mistakes are not acceptable and will take significant effort to clean up. As Blank User said, nobody is policing how you tag, just that it's sufficient and accurate. Any sort of automated tagging still makes it entirely your responsibility to verify that the tags are accurate, and these tags are very inaccurate.

Got it, thanks for the reply lol. I didn't realize Danbooru had a Dmail feature. If something like this comes up again, I'll definitely dm them first.

No worries lol, it's not a big deal. I can help clean up some of the tags too. And sorry for making a whole post just to @ you โ I honestly didn't know Danbooru had a dm feature ๐ญ
@Splash_Numbers c'mon man. And you still have a lot of cleaning up of all your autotagged posts to do, when I open a random post of yours (post #11660173) and can still find nonsensical tags (torii).
