Gonna go against the grain here and say that I don't mind this tag. I cleared it out earlier today specifically because, as someone who knows every Pokemon, I knew I could resolve every post tagged with it. A character_request pokemon search is filled with original characters and characters from copyrights I have no idea about, and is therefore something I have less of an ability to clear.
As someone who is completely Pokemon-illiterate and has to add request tags every time, I don't mind this tag either. We already treat Pokemon in a somewhat unique way, and this just streamlines the process for both those who know their Pokemon and those who don't. I imagine it'll almost always be (nearly) empty, so the posts not drowning in generic character requests seems useful too.
