i noticed some people use pixiv_000 and others pixiv000 when qualifying artist names. what is the right one?

Former, but I thought using staccs for the qualifier was preferred if it was known?
i think i was told not to use stacc usernames so i usually try
1. romaji/pixiv name
2. twitter username if the name is something stupid like "r" or "あ"
3. pixiv id qualifier if it's ambiguous
Stacc can be fine if it's actually something chosen by the artist. All the user_* are out already since they are just automatically generated, and I've seen a fair share of stacc names that don't follow that format but are still a completely random string. In both of those cases, having the pixiv ID in the artist name easily tells you that you are looking at a pixiv ID, not a random string of letters.

That's what I always went with too, but apparently some users have decided that's bad now.
whatever is decided should be written in https://danbooru.donmai.us/wiki_pages/howto%3Atag#dtext-tag-creation and/or help:artists for future reference, since it would be better if everyone followed the same standard

Agreed. I also have used stacc names, but I don't care too much either way.
