If you find an identical copy of an image whose source has been lost, is it acceptable/necessary to update the broken source with the new source? Re: post #8965715 and pixiv #133283278. Maybe a stupid question, but this is a first for me and I haven't found info in the wiki about it.

It's not an identical image, it's a revision, you can post it as a parent of post #8965715 and tag it as such if you want. Source should only be replaced if the MD5 is the same as the current post.
