Rename nerv tag from Evangelion

BUR #58122 is pending approval.

create alias nerv -> nerv_logo
remove alias nerv -> nerv_logo

The nerv tag is associated with the fig leaf logo for the Nerv organization in Neon Genesis Evangelion, though some posts were using the tag to simply denote a lab or a vehicle associated with the Nerv organization and so on.

I believe the tag should be renamed to better represent its usage, but I'm requesting an alias since the tag has more than 200 posts.

Moreover, I've created a wiki page for the Nerv uniform, since that's a distinct military uniform that did not yet have a tag. I'm new to this, and hopefully didn't mess anything up.

It also keeps getting in the way with nervous sweating etc. in autocomplete so I'm all for a rename.

BTW, removing the alias afterwards makes it effectively a rename, so it won't get in the way of autocomplete. You can edit your BUR to add the following line to achieve that:

remove alias nerv -> nerv_logo

Yes, there were a few posts in the nerv tag that clearly meant to tag nervous or nervous_sweating instead. I edited those posts prior to making this request.

MEH-ing, most of the tag is just the logo so I'm ultimately fine with a rename, but I can think of fringe cases involving Ritsuko, the magi system, or those vehicles you mentioned in OP that I'd probably want if I was looking for NERV as an organization which aren't just covered by Nerv uniform.

Regardless if it keeps getting mistagged as nervous, maybe nerv_(evangelion) would be another solution.

I went through all 700+ posts in the tag, checking carefully if they did have the nerv logo somewhere on the image, and the only posts in the tag that referred to the organization somehow, but had no logo were these 3 posts:

• post #9882083, which takes place inside Nerv command center, but I think it's a stretch with 'tag what you see'.
• post #10085747, a vehicle used by Nerv at one point and already has its own tag un heavy fighter jet (evangelion).
• post #8163800, three Nerv scientists side by side, likely inside Nerv itself, but once again feels like a stretch to me.

As for the Magi, they are tagged either individually as Balthasar (Evangelion), Melchior (Evangelion), Casper (Evangelion), or as a group with magi_(evangelion) already.

I'm certain I could be missing fringe cases, but I believe the current nerv tag has a single use case that isn't reflected in its name, and causes issues with autocomplete for other unrelated tags.

Yeah, I agree with you, I think it's current use is mainly the logo, I'm just thinking about things like someone uploading no_humans art of the hallways or command center.

I also think that Mitsato one is a good example of something I'd expect in a tag for nerv since the command center is the primary part you see of it in the show, and it's obviously recognizable in the image. However, since Maya has the uniform and you've made the tag for it I guess it's not a point against splitting the tag.

That's a really good point, but I feel like a more descriptive tag such as nerv_headquarters, nerv_center, nerv_base or something like that would be much better. As it is, I think there aren't enough Nerv indoor images to populate such a tag, though. That might be a 'cross the bridge when we get to it' situation, in my opinion.

I just want the tag renamed so I stop risking it showing up on my Nikkis.
