I'm surprised no one's suggested this until now, but since commas can't be used in tags, why not use slashes for the tags that cover more than two games? Like my previous BURs, I don't really have any strong feelings on this one way or the other, but this does seem like something that could work.

I am going to approve this because

  • I hate how the slash looks in the sidebar: pokemon_red/green/blue/yellow already becomes like this, which is ugly, so I'm leaving a way out for them rather than forcing us to keep this standard by changing all of them:

My preference:

pokemon red/green or pokemon red/blue
pokemon gold/silver
pokemon ruby/sapphire
pokemon diamond/pearl

Blue and Yellow can be aliased to red/green and further elaborated on in the Wiki. For the rest drop all third versions (Crystal, Emerald, Platinum). Emerald and Platinum already have their own tags, no need to also have them in the main tag (it was ignorable when they were just initials, but now the repetition sticks out like a sore thumb), especially when they already imply the main tags. Crystal is the difficult one as I don't believe we need to create an entire new tag just for every Kris image since off the top of my head that's the only main difference that's going to relevant for Danbooru. Frankly I'm thinking just drop it altogether and just have the tag be gold/silver, have the wiki elaborate that it also includes the Crystal version and elaborate it's main difference that it adds a playable Kris.

Basically every main pokemon tag should highlight at max the two counterpart games, anything extra can be aliased, explained in the Wiki or needs to get it's own tag.
