loincloth and fundoshi

Posted under Tags

About fundoshi, there are currently two different subtags: rokushaku fundoshi and ecchuu fundoshi. If we want to really divide fundoshi into types then there are at least 5 types.

  • standard/basic: single piece of cloth, twisted rope look on the sides, has front flap
  • rokushaku: single piece of cloth, twisted rope look on the sides, no front flap
  • ecchuu: has a string attached to one end of the cloth to act as the waist band, has front flap
  • mokko: has a string attached to both ends of the cloth to act as the waist band, no front flap
  • kuroneko: same as mokko except has a T-back look at the back

Personally, I don't think that is very useful. Fundoshi may be better categorized into flap/no-flap and string/rope. Fundoshi + pelvic curtain should cover the flap/no-flap cases. For the string/rope cases, string loincloth could be made as a new tag.
