[Link Click] Costume Implications

Didn't they just got rejected in topic #33422? I don't think having more post count is a reason for special treatment, not to mention 52 is not that many. According to the second tag's wiki it's just a costume from an album, what's the "special identity"? If it's just because he's "dressing up as a vampire" I don't think that's special either.

In topic #33422, I rejected that BUR myself. As WRS pointed out, I originally lumped several different copyrights together for discussion.

Regarding whether they could have just two costume tags, I had further discussions with Damian0358, which can be viewed at forum #390638.

Not sure what you mean by special treatment. Currently, there doesn't seem to be a clear rule stating that only gacha games and VTubers can have costume tags—many non-gacha/VTuber characters have outfit tags now.

I once considered creating many costume tags in topic #33422, but later agreed with Damian0358 they weren't necessary, so deleted most of them.

Personally, I think one or two costume tags for prominent designs might be acceptable.

This doesn't mean "every copyright has two free costume tag counts". Exceptions can be made when necessary, if you can prove that these tags are special, then yes they can stay. That's why I'm asking you what your justification means.

And I think Damian made it clear enough, costumes from non-gacha are just a mess. These Chinese IPs with a thousand costume from promotion and collaborations, they're getting costume tags because they're new and popular. But the same can apply to everything and the logic collapses. What to do?

If you're interested in justifying their existence, participate in one of the discussion threads, you'll be more than welcomed. It would really help if we can put up a standard before we dive into all of these exceptions and this copyright and that copyright and so on. I'm not even against costume tagging but this is just a mess, all the discussion threads fail and people are only willing to advocate for their favorite copyright. So we continue with these inconsistent treatments and the real issue never gets solved.

Regarding BUR #48618, I believe the rationale is that both designs feature prominent designs, clearly differing from the character's default appearance.
(Just as I initially intended to create a costume tag for cheng xiaoshi 's Season 2 costume like post #9904882, but since its differences from the initial costume weren't significant, I ultimately classified it as a variation of the default costume.)

A similar case was approved by admins in BUR #39967.
Many other analogous examples exist. For example, just in Damian0358's mention of Steven Universe gems (topic #32923), while many tags were eventually nuked, tags like 80s_Amethyst and 80s_Pearl were retained.
Not requesting “every copyright has two free costume tag counts.” I believe many characters don't require costume tags at all. It still depends on the specific circumstances.

Yes, I think we could start a discussion thread specifically about costumes.
However, I'm unsure how to frame it—as I'm requesting here for copyrights I'm familiar with. But for costumes from other copyrights, I may not familiar with them enough (or justifying them).
