deprecate confident

Extremely subjective tag. While a few of these pics do give off a smug "I'm the best" vibe, most of them are just characters smiling with raised or frowned eyebrows, sometimes pointing to themselves.

I don't think looking confident is as subjective as you claim. I'd rather we fixed any perceived mistags than nuke what seems like a reasonable concept to search for.

confident does have a large degree of subjectivity to it. How confident is "confident enough" for the tag to apply, and how exactly would we enforce such a definition? Does a seductive smile portray confidence? What about smugness, or seriousness, or a fighting stance? What about post #3131542, or post #9615488, or post #2493632, or anything featuring femdom? What really makes it unsuitable as a tag is just how wide a range of posts it would apply to.

The mistags far outnumber the correct uses. If it were to be gardened, I think the post would barely cross the two-digits mark. That Vegeta meme pose is the one of the few that could be considered unambiguously confident, most of the tag is just characters smiling in a wide variety of contexts.

They're smiling because they're confident? If they aren't happy and they aren't smug and they aren't just smiling all the time they are probably confident because if they had no emotion we would have to tag that expresionless smile and that makes even less sense

imo it's not such a terrible tag it's just hard to define precisely. We do have other tags for emotions like sad depressed and despair

Too much of a vibe tag, in my opinion. Often comes down to the pose of the character (hand on own hip, for example) or interactions with other characters. Similar to the proud tag, I don't see how one could make a concise and objective statement on what defines a confident character as a requirement for the tag to be applied.
