imo the problem is that to tag with brother-in-law you just need the sibling-in-law to be male, this could be the wife's brother or the husband's brother. technically it could be even the husband from the viewpoint of the spouse's brother so there probably should be a note on the wiki saying you shouldn't use this tag just because the husband in present...
to tag with brothers-in-law you need the wife to be married to a man AND she needs to have a husband. that's just too specific imo
So let me get this straight. You want brother-in-law to apply when only one of the two with the tagged relationship is male? What's the point of the tag then? This change would make it so it's necessary to show both the spouse's brother and the spouse's husband in the image, or in other words, both are male.
Also, how can someone be married to a man and not have a husband???

Yeah, I only realized it doesn't transfer the votes after, since it was already getting replies I left it here. For anyone who wants to vote you can click on BUR #48969 to vote.

I think they meant "married to a man and have a brother".

Yeah... someone has to have a brother and a husband for those two to be brothers-in-law. If one of those don't exist, there is no brother-in-law.
The logic is simple. We tag sisters, brothers and brother and sister, not brother and sister. We don't tag mother, father, son, daugther, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, grandfather, grandmother either, we tag the specific relationship in question. Relationship tags for a single person is useless. Brother and sister are deprecated for this exact reason.
Therefore, in-law tags should be sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and brother-in-law and sister-in-law.

Can we take another look at this? We have sisters and brothers instead of sister and brother. What's the deal with sister-in-law and brother-in-law? I already made brother-in-law and sister-in-law and gardened the posts.
Approved. The message ended up in topic #27807 because you moved the BUR.
