Tags for shielding another from attacks/rain

So the tags shielding and shielding_another_from_rain exist, but they are very small, lack a wiki, and shielding also includes posts of characters just parrying things with their arms protecting themselevs. We don't really have a standalone tag from shielding one from incomming projectiles (we have "protecting" but that is much more general post #8439625). Wing_umbrella Also exists, is bigger and has a wiki, but also includes characters using a wing as their OWN umbrella. Imo we should have some generic tag for specifically shielding another from any sort of projectile, be it rain or something else. Then have "sheilding_another_from rain" implying it. So either alias shielding to shielding another and clean it up or make a seperate "shielding_another" tag.

Personally I also think there should be a tag specifically for shielding another with ones own body/body part as opposed to an object post #8081571 post #8067651 as it is a bit more intimate post #8611427. Wing umbrella is also an example of this post #5953476 but it is not always wings being used to shield someone, even from rain post #7294602.

While were at it we might add wing umbrella to this if we seperate it from characters shielding themselves. (What's even the point of using a body part to shelter another bit of YOUR OWN body from getting wet? This isn't like sunlight where using your eyes to prevent it getting in your eyes has a an actual benifit).

I don't think we need tags to be that specific for shielding another from rain, as some of these tags you are suggesting could be replaced with better searches. For example, using shielding another from rain + wing umbrella instead of shielding with wing.

To be honest I don't see a point for the shielding tag as it is, since we have protecting. I agree that the protecting tag is very broad but by definition shielding and protecting are very similar, and I don't know how to justify the existence of shielding, shielding another and protecting as different tags.

Instead, I would prefer shielding to refer to situations when someone is protecting oneself, like post #8443193 & post #5406216. Because you might not expect this kind of 'self protecting' when searching for protecting. And perhaps create the BUR alias shielding another from rain -> protecting another from rain to emphasize this.

Anyways I'm just a blue user, would love some purple guy to give an opinion on this.

The difference is broadness. Protecting is any sort of protecting, including standing behind someone looking threathning. Shielding another is specifically blocking projectiles. When we have both shielding and shielding another from rain it's odd that we don't have a general shielding another tag.

shielding is too small to require this kind of nested implications. It's also redundant with protecting, and it's currently being used for characters shielding themselves too.

Solo wing umbrella is arguably a mistag as it's not really and umbrella as you're still getting wet, just on the wing instead of another body part. Like me holding up my arm in the rain would not be "arm umbrella" but me holding my arm over someone else would be.

That's the point. Shielding can be solo and protecting is also used for characters with a general protective aura but not putting barrier between someone else and a threat. Compare post #8053437 post #8881061. We don't really have a way to search for stuff like this post #7166169 post #8881061 post #8611427 except for the weirdly reduntant sounding search of shielding protecting. We could clean out either shielding or proetcting to be specifically about that but I don't think it fits. A character using a shield to shield themselves belongs in shielding and someone looking at a character while another character is behind them looking pissed still belongs in protecting even if the character doing the protecting isn't in the middle between the protected and the threat/impact/danger/Whatever.

Yeah, arguable by people who have no idea how our tags work. A character using their own wing as an umbrella is a wing umbrella. post #3986334 and post #2324500 are wing umbrellas by any definition.
