Bridget and male_with_breasts

Posted under General

I've noticed there's an amount of posts that are tagged bridget_(guilty_gear) male_with_breasts and a random gardevoir who may or may not has been tagged male due to the bridget cosplay.

I've been changing the tags on the SFW posts as 1girl and genderswap (mtf) (I am unsure what to do with the NSFW posts, but I'm guessing those would be tagged as futanari, right?) but the tags keep getting changed back.

I was under the impression that the "physical evidence" that the gender policy¹ in Bridget's wiki lists refers to things such as the presence of breasts. If that's the case, then the male tags should be replaced with female tags instead, right?
1. "Current policy is to tag Bridget as male unless physical evidence in the image proves otherwise, including the presence of the transgender flag. Non-bodily evidence (e.g. transgender flag) is only relevant to Rating:General posts."

I know there was a topic about the overall issue with male_with_breasts, but no conclusion was reached from what I understand. I wanted to at least clear up the confusion with Bridget, considering she has a specific policy regarding stuff like this.

(On the topic of the male_with_breasts forum topic, I noticed that someone tried justifying their tagging of Bridget + male_with_breasts with the fact that the artist was trying to convey a male Bridget. To that end, when have we ever cared about what the artist intended? I'm positive there are many Bridget posts tagged with 1boy even though the artist sees her and intended to draw her as a girl. IMO, if there are breasts, she should be tagged as a girl.)

For sfw if breasts are present I would assume the intent is to draw him as a girl given the character so I agree with those changes to 1girl, though I don't know if genderswap_mtf is appropriate. Since our standard tagging of him is 1boy I would think it would be fine, as it's a deviation from the normal depictions and would make them easier to search. For instance if he's drawn as a girl with multiple female characters adding a genderswap_(mtf) to the search would assure you are actually getting a female Bridget. But given it's a touchy subject for some I can see why they wouldn't want the added tag.

For nsfw, I'm bias since I am the OP of one of those male with breasts hate threads, but since it's indistinguishable from futa if he has breasts and the lower anatomy isn't changed I'd just give him 1girl + futanari.

I was under the same impression regarding physical evidence, but some people seem to disagree, not get the memo or be ridiculously "umm akshually" about it. I am reminded of post #7046845, which for some rason caused dicussions on how the shape of that shirt *could* just be a fabric pleat, which is still ridiculous.

As for:

To that end, when have we ever cared about what the artist intended?

Basically: Sometimes, usually, as long as it doesn't cause any problems. An artist saying what they see this Bridget as doesn't really carry any value, and making our tagging inconsistent just based on which artist bothered to add a pronoun in the commentary is counterproductive. It's really more for cases where characters are partially out of frame and thus ambiguous, but the artist confirms who it is.

Yeah I agree. Although It feels a bit odd in this specific case, your reasoning does make sense.

I think it's the otoko_no_ko tag that encourages tagging something that clearly looks like a girl or futanari as male_with_breasts or cuntboy. In my opinion, the presence of feminine characteristics erases all ambiguity regardless of what the artist intended. That special line about physical evidence in the bridget_(guilty_gear) wiki needs to apply for all. It's bothersome having to see posts like post #6309615, post #3782416 and post #7401206 under male_focus. You might as well tag what's obviously a girl as otoko_no_ko + male_with_breasts + cuntboy whenever the artist tells you it's actually a boy, thus making tags completely useless.
