I would call it a meme character more than an animalization, and I'm not sure if meme characters should imply the character they're based on. Compare it with Doro vs Dorothy from Nikke, Neco-Arc vs Arcueid Brunestud, Shiteyan'yo vs Hatsune Miku, or Kimeemaru vs Shameimaru Aya. In some cases they take on a life of their own and get adapted/parodied by other characters, or otherwise treated as independent characters. topic #30523 is also about this.
