Tagging hair/clothing color in greyscale and monochrome

Posted under General

I think greyscale and monochrome pics should have some kind of white/black/grey distinction for hair, and maybe clothes.
Different colors just give off a different vibe that needs to be searchable/blacklistable, even for greyscale posts.

You might even want to tag eye colors for certain art styles or characters with white irises, like byakugan or kose erika.

Things like black theme and white theme are plenty appropriate for monochrome posts, but not always applicable even when you'd want to search/blacklist hair/clothing colors.

I like the idea of adding this kind of specificity to monochrome tagging (which is a bit barren now), but I don't think existing color tags should be used, since the entire point is the lack of colors (and yes, for these purposes black/grey/white are colors).

I think that would be best. Though there isn't really an in-between there.
I'm not sure if shades like grey, light brown, and dirty blonde should be lumped in with light hair like blonde and white, or lumped in with dark brown and black. Would need some examples to make an objective call as to where the thresholds lie.
Otherwise it's pretty easy, like tagging dark-skinned people in monochrome posts.

I was thinking dark hair would mostly be for hair colors matching the outline color (post #6668911). I don't know if we should include lighter colors (post #6756634), but they would be borderline at best.

For light hair, they would mostly be solid white (post #6683072) and maybe very light grey (post #6440527).

Tagging would be easiest if we stick to solid color and solid white. The more leeway we give the colors in between, the more likely users are going to edit war over whether a certain is dark or light enough to count. Unless there's a need to be hyper-specific about the shade of hair color, we can probably leave the rest untagged.

neutral hair or intermediate hair comes to mind for things like post #6551175 and post #6808413, but also fine with untagged as hair length tags might make it at least somewhat searchable/blacklistable.

There’s no way users aren’t going to just add tags called light_hair and dark_hair to colored posts. Trying to keep that distinction will be impossible.

Then maybe qualifying them as light hair (monochrome) and dark hair (monochrome) is necessary. Though that could give the impression that it's mutually exclusive with multicolored hair. Probably better than black hair (monochrome) at least.

We may have to go with the qualifiers now since dark hair is now depreciated. I don't know whether evazion read any of this or not when making that decision.

I would think colored hair tags would have the same issues with being mistaken for mutually exclusive as light hair (monochrome) and dark hair (monochrome tags would. I would be surprised if this became an issue for users fully knowledgeable in the use of multicolored hair and smiliar tags.
