instance domination and vulcan salute

I'm not sure how instance domination is different from standard vulcan salute, is there any actual use or the creator just didn't about vulcan salute?

One of the big differences is that the Vulcan salute does not involve the eye in any way, and that it's always performed with the hand straight up to the side of the body like you are waving.
