Bridget - Guilty Gear Strive

Also a comment about Safebooru. Like I said, they can make that decision a lot easier as they don't care about NSFW content, and one of the reasons having a split of 1girl for SFW and 1boy for NSFW here is a problem is it'd open up gerrymandering of the rating: tag for borderline images to put it one way or the other, besides the one that already exists for variant sets.

+Making an account takes investement. As a lot of person stated, they didn't until now because they didn't feel the need for. But now they do SPECIFICALY to gender Bridget correctly.

Trivial and meaningless compared to the ones who use it a lot and might have some idea of how the site functions, or better yet, are active contributors to it and have to deal with whatever systems are decided upon. I don't fall into the latter category.

Well, I mean LovelyLeafon7 is litterally giving you an option (go with IP)in case people make several accounts... So I don't know at all what you are complaining about I'll admit...

Using a VPN or another anonymizer to hide their IP and then suggesting to weed out duplicate accounts based on IP isn’t underhanded at all. I’m sure that will convince mods to go with that suggestion.

As for the first issue, if talking about Bridget, it's quite simple, we just change Bridget from Strive to be 1girl. Easy.
If we talk about adding some tags to represent trans people, it do get a bit harder it's true. But is it that hard ? I mean, it has already been stated by your own side (no trans and no Bridget being a girl) that the rule of "you tag what you see" is already falling apart. (The simple fact that Bridget looks like a girl)
Now we can add the fact that there is few trans characters so gendering correctly shouldn't be that hard. Just a trans tag as stated (easy to blacklist also). Or go with the at LEAST somewhat correct (it is not, biologist still debating) "1male" and "1female" for genitals, and "1girl" and "1boy" for gender. And I'm just scratching the surface here. And there is like 1tag to add... I mean, it can be bothering if you tag all day long, but 1 tag should be fine.
Problem solved.

As for the second, I will be honest to you, I don't intend to hurt you, but I feel like you are just going out of your way to prove me wrong.
So, let me explain : A simple fact is that Danbooru is a site to use as a gallery. I mean, it's as simple as that. If there is no one to look at it, then why would we even care.
And NOW, the same people who use it are making accounts to say "Hey, so hum... why's Bridget 1boy when it's been clearly stated that she is a girl ?".
Those same users that use the site and are mandatory for it to work. And it's not like we are 1 or 2.
So yes, it matters and you are just being aggressive. This is not against you, but you maybe should reflect on why you are so aggressive and being so conservative. Once again, it's not against you, but you really go out of your way, using every possible excuse to make "Bridget = 1girl" (or similar) not happen.

Hello, it is indeed a possibility that someone use a VPN. And it has been for decades and now... it bothers you ? xd
This... I'm sorry once again, but to me it totally looks like you are really going out of your way to make this not happen, I may be wrong and you can correct me, but htis is what I understand from your message.

As for a solution, it is kinda hard I won't lie. Don't get me wrong there are TONS of solutions, but I don't know which one we can apply.
-We can consider that each side can use VPN, some will use it, but it should be rare for both sides so it shouldn't be a big problem.
-We can use another website which is more performant to track votes.
-I'll comeback with other solutions later cause... I sorry to put it this way again, but all this denial and "going out of my way to make Bridget = 1girl not happen" is making me feel bad lol

>all those accounts made today or yesterday voting
Guess that somebody linked to this thread on Twitter. Goddamn, these threads have been a gift that keeps on giving; no matter what happens, you can be sure that they'll spawn something amusing, retarded, cancerous, or any combination of the previously mentioned items. Also, a minus vote just to annoy you Twitter folks; I would have voted either meh or ignored it otherwise, but the number of one-day old accounts was too high to not vote against them.

You are allowed 1 (one) account on danbooru from which you can vote on BURs. Anything more and both accounts are banned. If you try to evade a ban by using a VPN or a proxy, you will eventually still be banned

Yes. On Twitter, I looked it up.

I'm unsure of any others on different websites, however

I think it needs to be stated that votes are like 80% symbolic on any given action in these forums. There have been BURs that failed despite universal support and vice versa. In addition, it's not as it's an automatic "past the post" system or anything like that. It's manual.

Discussions have always been significantly more impactful than votes by a very wide margin. 100 people from twitter could make accounts and all vote - up or down! - right now and it would probably have 0 impact on the results in either direction.

I get ignoring brigades on principle, but it isn't really helping the argument to do so if established users are going to admit openly to griefing.

e: Though this is assuming that matters to such a granular extent, which was just disputed.

Looking it up, I don't see any interactions on that 1 twitter post. It does seem a bit hopeless though, sadly looks like the character's tags aren't going to be changed...

It isn't to do with twitter per se. If all up or downvotes are coming from users who previously have had little interaction with the website, then we have to be cautious of their motives. Someone who isn't involved in a community will not be affected by their votings, thus likely cannot make an informed decision

Honestly while I voted down the proposal I'm not really against it entirely, I'd prefer some alterations but my real objection is I just don't think it'll last. Most people who support it will probably not be satisfied with Sensitive or higher pics still calling Bridget a dude and many also probably wouldn't be content with it simply being post Strive works.

If we did that proposal then set it in stone forever never to change or be used as a wedge to push more ,sure would be good (few problems I have with it aside) and would probably fix most of the issues. However virtually all the people who joined today to vote/post here and the activists who proceeded them in recent days aren't gonna be content with it since they describe this issue as a civil rights one rather than a technical one like most opposing it.

Sadly, I think you are right.

I'm sorry, maybe I am missing something but... why is there a discussion about how important someone is coming from another website ?
I mean, the "Someone who isn't involved in a community will not be affected by their votings, thus likely cannot make an informed decision" seems weird to me. We are not talking about a super specific subject like how to code a spaceship, it's literally : "Do we continue to misgender Bridget, yes or no ?" And to me it seems like anybody can have a voice here as it affects people in general.

This wasn't such a huge deal in Japan. Most were infact calling Bridget how they always called him. An otokonoko.

The moment any character plays with gender it's always a huge deal to a certain demographic who make it their entire personality.

And we're here left to defend beloved characters from being turned into some identity prop for them to put in front of some made up flag.

Tl;dr
This isn't 2 groups in a tug of war, it's one group trying to destroy what has always been there.

>"But the creator confirmed it!!!"

Authors can very well destroy what fans loved. And there's evidence that this decision might've been pressured onto him by westerners.

There was an article about how Bridget is a "transphobic trope" tell me what other characters have you seen been called this?

ArcSys has removed content for China too btw

Accusations of bad faith are really poor coming from you, considering your previous account was permanently banned and you're still here debating on a new account.

"Daisuke was pressured by westerners" has to be the silliest thing i've read all week. this is as bad as Uchikoshi being called a californian girl in disguise.

They even just recently did a interview where they mention that Bridget was entirely brought back for strive to appeal to back home because sales were slumping in Japan... Bridget was made to appeal to old players and Japan, not the west, the game is doing fine in the west...

Oh, Bridget has been "detroyed"... I don't think so. Point of view, I love Bridget story.

Well, in a way you are right. In other ways... Let's maybe remember that I was banned for, I quote "Your own good". I mean : "You have to wear high heel for your own good !" wasn't that long ago and still happens to this day.

So, I am still waiting other arguments than :
-"Bridget is a boy because penis" -> False biologically
-"Bridget is otoko no ko in Japan !" -> Not everywhere + Daisuke is Japanese and the literal creator of the game
-"Bridget has been destroyed !!!" -> Only a point of view. I personnally love Bridget Arc.
-"It's only activists !!" -> Probably not as I am a normal human being, just trying to do my best to stop exclusiveness for some obscure reason. (+Who cares lol, like calling someone activist doesn't automatically makes them bad, you need arguments)
-And so on and so forth "The sun was in my eye I couldn't hear you", etc

Edit:
Right I forgot :
-"The entire world excpet 2 people want Bridget to be kept as 1boy" -> Statistics ? Proofs ? Is that right ? I mean, people in Nazi's time thought "Yeah, Nazi's are doing the right thing here, no problem !" (Fascinating subject, I highly recommend reading about it. And also kinda helps you understand that some things are normalized when they shouldn't, like being exclusionary which is proven to be an open door to facism. F a s c i n a t i n g.)

Like I said in the first few sentences the Japanese side were utterly confused by this decision.

Some were okay with it but there was one specific tweet that gained thousands of likes talking about how they can't call Bridget an "otokonoko" anymore.

The Japanese weren't asking for this. Who was?

Clearly, someone at ArcSys, and Daisuke thought the idea was good, so they went ahead with it. Not everything needs to be a conspiracy, it can often be just that simple.
