due to the masturbation tag referring to female masturbation, can we make the slang terms "shlick" and "shlicking" an alias?

This sounds like an alias for the sake of an alias. Is anyone really going to look at a girl masturbating and go:
"It looks like she's shlicking... but that's not a tag. Hmm, I wonder what the tag could be...".
Aliases are designed to help facilitate searches for tags, not to create a dictionary of synonyms.

You also need to exclude male_focus from it.

You might want to exclude 1other and no_humans as well. See post #1854350 and post #4606761.

I'd really like to see this or something like it go through. It's annoyed me for ages that I have to search masturbation -male_masturbation -futanari to see images of women masturbating (a very simple concept which should be searchable), especially considering a) it isn't possible for free members to search this, and b) this search misses images like post #4797594 or post #4578010 where there is both a futanari and female_masturbation in the same image. Adding a futanari_masturbation tag would at least solve b), so I would be also be fine with that as an alternative.
I'm happy to do the gardening work to fix this up if the alias goes through.
It would be nice to take another step away from the oldbooru mentality of "female by default so no tag needed", but I don't think any amount of additional tags will help that mass update. I think y'all just gotta get in there and go nuts with the tag script rather than using a mass update.
I agree, it's dumb to have to do a three tag search just to be able to see women fapping.
I've added "masturbation" to the right hand side of the BUR and an implication to it, otherwise all those posts will have masturbation removed (note that male masturbation currently implies masturbation).
I don't think nuking the generic masturbation tag in favor of individual gender ones is a good idea because the overall tag serves as a way to remove that content altogether from rating:e searches.

I agree with what Obsterics said. And overall I think that female_masturbation, male_masturbation and futanari_masturbation would be plenty enough.
I've written a wiki, and started manually adding the posts that were missed by the BUR. I'll finish cleaning it up over the next week or two when I have time, and I'll keep an eye on masturbation and female masturbation in the future to make sure they're getting used properly.

I was originally thinking that this tag would not include futanaris masturbating. That's kinda the whole reason I wanted the tag, and I think matches what most people would want/expect. The BUR, however, added a ton of futa masturbation to female masturbation. Can I go ahead and remove all those?

There's only a handful of false positives under female_masturbation futanari -solo (and half of them are deleted), so female_masturbation -futanari is pretty much equivalent, which is why I'm not too convinced about a third tag. But then again we make yuri distinct from futanari, and I doubt people searching for female or futa masturbation would want to see both at the same time... Let's put it to a vote. Adding an alias from newhalf masturbation to prevent people from creating that separately, because I just know it will happen otherwise.
The clause "not to be confused with fingering, which is when one character stimulates another character, not themselves." in the female_masturbation wiki entry seems unnecessarily restrictive about the fingering tag. It's a useful tag in the masturbation case because it distinguishes different types of female_masturbation.

I've always interpreted fingering to mean just a sex act between two people, not a subcategory of masturbation as well. But judging by the 5500 post overlap between fingering and masturbation, it seems like I might be wrong. female_masturbation fingering has 4379 posts, and female_masturbation -sex_toy has 12k, so we're a bit lacking in consistency. If other people think fingering should include masturbation I'll change the wiki and try to clean it up a bit.
