That change might have been me messing with things. I tried editing one of the posts with the character to character:alter_ego to see if there could be tags with the same name in different categories. Turns out that's not how it works. I think I've changed it back now?
I decided to check the tag myself, and found that there was one instance of it being additionally mistagged on post #4307207, in the context of 'alter egos' in general. So with that in mind, as well as the post this thread's about, I decided to just imprudently tag garden alter ego out of existence, making Alter Ego and Alter Ego in its place, and turn its wiki into a disambiguation wiki. With 37 posts for the character, there didn't seem to be a reason to not just manually garden this.
The bulk update request #7562 (forum #198410) has been rejected by @evazion.
