Not sure if there are more.
These come to mind, though.

For reference: If we were strict, then we should also have tags for professors and rivals.

Yes, I don't like those tags. Nuke them please.

Some characters fit multiple roles.

  • Would we add gym_leader and elite_four to every Koga post?
  • If we had a pokemon_champion tag, then would Blue and Wallace always have that tag and gym_leader too?

Some characters change their status at some point.

  • Blue (the boy rival) only becomes a Gym Leader in the Johto games, at which point Giovanni is not a Gym Leader anymore.
  • Anabel is a Frontier Brain in Emerald but not in the Alola games.
  • In the anime, Brock starts as a Gym Leader and retires, while Misty only becomes Gym Leader much later in the story.

Not a profession per se, but it falls into a similar category of meta tagging.

Yes, definitely. lol I think that is the worst tag. It basically means "almost any human character from the Pokémon games".

It also comes to mind that most player characters are also present in some games as NPCs too. Should all posts with Red, Blue, Ethan, Lyra, Brendan, May, etc. be tagged npc_trainer? Not really.

For the record, the wiki of npc trainer also duplicates the job of list of pokemon trainer classes. Both pages have a list of actual character tags like bug_catcher_(pokemon) and aroma_lady_(pokemon).
