Tag discussion: AK-12 (and its two models)

Posted under Tags

Hello, I would to request a new separate tag of an ak-12.
More specifically AK-12(200 series) to avoid any confusion of two different AK-12s.

The current AK-12 and the ak-12_(girls_frontline) is using the 400 series. Even the artist(Duoyuanjun) commented on it was the 400 series.

So I suggest creating two separate tags:
AK-12(400 series)
AK-12(200 series)

So how do you identify if its a 200 and 400 AK-12? the Selector, the Buttstock, the Handguard and the Ejection port.

The 200 series was a clean slate AK, while the 400 series return to the more traditional style AK but further modernize(since the 400 series evolved from the AK-100 series modification during the 2011 trials).

Here some examples of an AK-12(200 series) looked like.

I'm not a big fan of specifying model sub-types like that for weapons. We don't do that for most of the vehicle tags, and it shouldn't be done for most of the weapon tags either. There's probably exceptions to that, but those should be a rarity and not the norm.

I don't know a whole lot about guns though, so I'll leave that decision to those more familiar with the topic.

I share BrokenEagle's view on the subject. I understand the differences between the different AK-12s are sustantial in real life, but to the uninitiated I think the difference is too minute to care about.
Plus, on a semi-humorous note, trying to differentiate between the versions would be less-than-fun for the taggers.

I have abit of tough discussion about the AK-12 few months ago(gun community). But after much discussion it was decided they will treated it as two separate guns. As it came from a different development. Also the AK-12(200 series) are just prototypes. It's like comparing M4 and AR-15 are the same gun. Which kinda feels wrong imo

Remember the current AK-12 wasn't always the "AK-12". Back then it was called "AK-400". But after the failures of the Zlobin's AK-12 in 2016. The Project was restarted and the AK-400 was renamed to the AK-12 with some minimal changes.

And didn't you guys put AK-15, RPK-16, pkm, pkp pecheneg and several AK-100 variants as a separate tag?

But Ofcourse they are few AK-12 art which are barely recognizable. Which is a bit of a problem with my trained eye.

As for the GFL ak-12... I think It should be kept it as it is. Since this is a character tag after all.
