[REJECTED] Tag alias: african -> very_dark_skin

I do agree on your proposition to add the "_(language)" clarifier to language tags. Another way of naming it could be "_text", such as "english_text", "french_text", etc, to be more in line with tags like "english_commentary" and the like, but that's just a matter of preference - the idea itself is valid to remove ambiguity and prevent new and inexperienced users from making mistakes.

As for the nationality/place/etc thing, I think that's also a valid proposition - the gardening should have to be done manually but it'd be trivial to gather a list of nations via wikipedia and their respective adjectives and go through their corresponding tags here. We might want to also do stuff like making sure all *_flag, etc are added to qualifying images.

The ethnicity problem is a hard one. On one hand it's already hard enough to make sure that images with rare tags such as these are properly tagged, so standardizing them would make it easier for everyone, but on the other I have the same concern as keonas, where I can't see it ending in any other way than characters like Nitocris having every single picture tagged as egyptian_(ethnicity) just to make padding for the tag list, or everyone with remotely dark skin being tagged as african.

I was mentioning Phara as an example where every image she had was tagged with her nationality but, i see that that got cleaned up now.
That's probably the way to go for the other nationality tags as well, since they're not very populated. Encourage people to use the *_clothes tags more.

That's kind of all i had to say. Haven't given this topic as much thought as you

Considering this is mostly an anime image site, the amount of images where another real world ethnicity is noticeable have been proportionally very low, less than 2% from what i could find. Generally i don't see the need to create a whole category of ethnicity tags.
With the acceptance of more western and video game art there have been more examples but still, too little to consider for me.

Tagging ethnicity seems very against the "tag what you see" ethos of most other general-category tags. Even IRL, it's not something you can tell very accurately from looks; the generally preferred method for statistics and such is to ask the person themself. Sure we could tag only in cases where ancestry is confirmed, but what actual benefit would we get by having souryuu asuka langley, connor kenway, and barack obama all together in tag mixed_race_(ethnicity)?

Then there's also the issue of "racebending" - I've seen multiple artworks on Pixiv of canonically black characters drawn as a standard anime-pale Japanese girl. What ethnicity would you tag on that? And what of monochrome images? Stylistic differences in drawing facial features? What ethnicity is post #1047654?

If someone is like "hey I want to find characters that are X race/ethnicity", I'd wager there's some better website for that task.

TL;DR: let's just stay with tagging skin tone and whatever other visible features.
