I suggest an alias from affection to affectionate because you can’t see affection but you can see characters being affectionate.
I vote for nuking too unless @Exceptiona can give us a reason why they should stay. They seem too generic to be worth keeping. If we go by the name they'd basically be used for what yuri/hetero/yaoi/couple are already being used for, except in a much broader and hard to define way. It'd basically be used for the vast majority of the pictures on this site falling under -solo.
I can see how these tags would be an issue for any variation of the couple tag so I have a suggestion, instead of using it for romantic affection, we could use 'affectionate ' for non-romantic affection such as with family members that isn't incest example of non-romantic sisterly affection because of this image, and the comment on it I started tagging things as affection / affectionate. I will admit I went a little too far (600+ images..I'm sorry) if this option doesn't appeal to you then you can nuke both.
The problem is that these are so "fuzzy" concepts. Should every seemingly consensual case of hug and kiss have one of these tags?
post #3127846 seems to be normal lust to me and post #3127579 looks like a cat(girl) enjoying being rubbed. Different people would use these tags for different things and they would soon become useless for searching.
Furthermore there is no way to tell just from looking at the image if affection is romantic or familial. Tag what you see is Danbooru policy, so spitting the tags the way you suggest is even more difficult. Sadly a lot of Danbooru members dont read wikis for tags so there would be a lot of misstagging.
I could see this used as a pool like a non sexual version of pool #544 but this is IMO not really a taggable concept.
