Tag alias: tan_background -> beige_background

We could, but it's sometimes difficult to tell the hues between tan and beige consistently in background, and I think that was what sweetpea was going for.

Beige is a pretty (almost very) light grayish shade of brown, whereas tan is sort of a middle light (and sometimes orangish) brown. Least, that's how I understand using them, but I make the mistake also.

That sounds like a good way to pin it down to me, with beige being more yellowish (rather than the orangeish with tan).

Sounds fair enough. But before we go with it, I do want to make sure that the information in all three tags is not specific enough that people want them separate.

I'll be +1 on that, but do you want to go ahead and make the BUR and link it here?

I'm thirding this idea. It makes the naming consistent with light brown hair.

I notice we have a sepia background too. Should that be aliased as well?

I personally use beige and sepia to refer to two different colours, and to my eyes they do look distinct (although the way they are used by other people isn't always in the same way I would use it).

Tan isn't one that I use, and to me it looks like a combination of beige and sepia stuff (with a handful of browns as well as random greys, yellows and pinks thrown in for good measure).

Meanwhile most of the stuff that I would think of as light brown background is actually under brown background.

That said, everyone's eyes interpret colour differently, and they're similar enough that I wouldn't be totally opposed to them being combined.

However, I don't really like the idea of having "light brown" as the head one. It's the least used of the three, the most ambiguous of the colours, and "light brown" is only really used in hair and eyes tags. Beige, on the other hand, is used for far more things, and the beige background tag is used almost a hundred times as often as the light brown background one is.

It has a lot to do with screen settings and color accuracy as well. Not everyone's gonna have 99.9% accurate sRGB or calibrated monitors. Even for me, the uncalibrated monitor I use as my second screen displays colors differently from my main IPS, so often I have to correct tags for images I was viewing on the side while tagging on the main.
