You know, I've been thinking lately that it wouldn't hurt to increase the appeal limit for regular users. A lot of frustration seems to be coming from how people don't feel that they can formally contest flags, and a one-per-day appeal limit in the face of over a dozen flags a day is certainly discouraging.

I'd be interested in raising the limit -- maybe 5 for Gold+?

I don't think there's a whole lot of room to abuse appeals, and multiple appeals from a variety of users might provide good reasons to keep a post. Appeals always have your name by them, after all.

Before overthrowing the "1 appeal/day": What was the reason to limit that?
Flags are much more likely to abuse, and Gold/Platinum/Builder level user can flag 10 posts per day (although maybe one should increase this threshold for Builders).

So after the little idea about seeing posts that have been deleted and noticing some of the flags starting from 2017-02-27 07:34 showing up blank via http://danbooru.donmai.us/post_flags it appears that there are even more flagged posts being hit with 'some bad anatomy' that I can't even see?

The only one that was approved immediately was post #2639672 and that's because it was the only one visible and had comments discussing the very thing brought up in this thread. But what happened with the rest?

As per those comments, I am not the only person surprised by seeing that it is the first time that images from a very good artist has been flagged for minor anatomy issues. The flag queue shows the same line of reasoning is being used for several other posts but I cannot see them, and therefore cannot comment. Is there something I am missing?

Oh, it's been such a long time that I completely forgot about the loli/shota thing.

A real pain in the ass.

Given the artist's typical subject matter, I should have expected that.

I can't tell if a flagged post with a censored tag has been approved or not then? Since the only one post I can see was approved, I can only hope the same has been applied to the remaining posts that I cannot see.

Updated

Having an option to "turn off" moderation just makes us Gelbooru. Which reminds me, I thought status:deleted was "fully" hidden from regular members; did that change with Danbooru 2 or was that never the case?

When reviewing flags should I keep to the general principle "only approve of posts that you personally like?" It was pointed out earlier in this thread that if a post is deleted after going through the flag queue that that flag reason must have been agreed by the janitors but this doesn't seem to square with that principle. Let's say 10 look at a post and only 3 like it, then those 3 actually evaluate the flag reason and decide not to approve so it gets deleted versus 10 look at a post and evaluate the merits of the flag reason rather than their personal taste and one approves it despite perhaps not liking it personally because the flag reason is wrong (although they could make a detailed rejection if there is a deleterious problem not covered by the flag).

So personally for flag reasons besides 'sample' I've been judging flagged posts on interests/taste first before proceeding to evaluating the flag merits and considering other problems (and just hiding if I don't have a taste for the image) and I'd like to know if this is okay practice.

I feel reviews should be done on the merit of the art rather than personal preference. Taking myself as an example, if I judged pendings/flags based on my preferences, I'd approve almost nothing at all. On the other hand, I'd approve stuff based on being acceptable, despite not being my preference (This is why I never applied for Janitor in the past). However, it's been said that the point of Janitors aren't to be picky, but to be encompassing a broad 'meh' spectrum to catch mediocre art that isn't fit for deletion nor instant-approval.
