I agree with the creation of the neckwear_grab, but I don't see a reason to get rid of the necktie_grab. Necktie grab is a specific, well defined and frequent enough concept that it deserves its own tag.
Rather than merging necktie_grab into the neckwear_grab, I would suggest to use neckwear_grab as a catch-all tag. In other words, keep necktie_grab the way it is now and implicate it to neckwear_grab. Situations where someone is grabbing other kinds of neckwear would be found by neckwear_grab -necktie_grab search. And if some of them get numerous enough, then we can create separate tags for it.

Regardless, I'll switch the necktie ones back, although I'll leave the few I found that weren't necktie with neckwear grab, and change the update request to have:
With the alias, necktie_grab could be replaced with a neckwear_grab necktie search and you can filter out necktie_garbs with a neckgear_grab -necktie search. On the other hand, not all cases filtered out by neckgear_grab -necktie will actually be necktie_grabs, so retaining the necktie_grab tag helps to future-proof the setup.

A similar case can be found in the headwear removed, hat removed, and helmet removed tags. Headwear removed is the umbrella term, and hat removed and helmet removed are the specific terms.

As NWF Renim already mentioned, and it was also one of my concerns before, neckwear_grab necktie + neckwear_grab -necktie approach is rather unreliable. Posts under neckwear_grab contain more than one character most of the time, so those searches would both include false positives and exclude some fitting posts. What I'm trying to say here is that this "clutter" is not needless.
