As the comments here say, what would be a good tag for images that are coloured but don't use shading? I'm at a loss for a description of it. Bah, my ancient age and lack of funky hip-hop knowledge.

I used "flat" on post #311432, but it's not ideal. "flat_color" might be better, but there's probably an established term in the arts. Someone needs to go and find out.
I'll keep that in mind when I run into images like that. Would WIP images like post #283874 qualify for that tag?
This might be just me but I have a feeling that post #311432 and post #283874 are something different than post #312825, http://konachan.com/post/show/36845 and http://konachan.com/post/show/36866/
I thought that too at first, but then figured it was just that one looks artsy and the other just looks unfinished. But assuming it's unfinished is presumptuous. The artist may have finished their work in that style.
The only other difference is highly contrasting colours which detract attention from the line art. I think it's the same thing just used differently. I'm considering myself done with this until the mods come up with something if they feel they need to. Maybe they should have different tags, but that'd be largely up to personal interpretation.
Well, the one I pointed out is officially unfinished, as it's a screenshot of the drawing before the artist started the shading and effects process. So it's not really presumptuous to say that.
Anyway, I agree they're different things, but I also agree that it's not really worthwhile to develop 2 tags for these things, there's such a thing as overspecifying.
