More important than notes, I think. If you want to find things with notes you can just search for translated. I'd replace Notes with Pools up there.

Nah, notes are useful since searching translated orders them by when they were posted originally, while using notes puts the most recently added translations first. If I had to get rid of anything, it would be wiki, since there is already a link to the wiki next to every tag anyway.

I guess it's the easiest way to reduce load (you can't load images easily without the thumbs).

Isn't tag searching what puts load on the server? I'm thinking that loading the / page and its thumbs, because it's always being seen, doesn't put much load on the server.

Am I mistaken? Can you confirm or deny this if you're out there, albert?

Regarding the limiting to two tag searches I have a request.
Could you not limit negative searches? Sometimes it's helpful to filter out some posts when a tag is usually associated with a certain character.
Examples:
"detached_sleeves -hakurei_reimu -hatsune_miku"
"cardigan -nagato_yuki -kyonko"
"very_long_hair -/msln -rider"
"zettai_ryouiki -toosaka_rin -hatsune_miku"
"doll -touhou -rozen_maiden"

Also, metatags like order:, rating:, pool:, etc. should not count as a tag search so you're able to search for "ishikei large_breasts rating:e order:score".

that's actually a very solid idea. I agree with it, at least for the metatag part. it seems unfair to punish people for wanting to filter out explicit posts but dare to have more than one tag otherwise.

Negative searches put a lot of strain on the DB though. And metatags weigh just like regular tags in a DB query, so that's why they're included in the limit.

You might see this limit removed or lessened if albert is happy with the new server and the DB performs better there. Otherwise, there's not much chance, I think.

I've implemented a new feature that's been requested a lot: a way to keep track of your favorite tags.

By going to your account settings page (http://danbooru.donmai.us/user/edit) you can enter a list of up to 20 tags you like. For basic members this is just for informational purposes, but for privileged members you can actually do post searches using this query syntax: http://danbooru.donmai.us/post?tags=favtag%3Aalbert

As always, you should be able to combine this with other tags. One caveat is that your favorite tags listing is always pruned to the 120 most recent posts, and it's updated only on an hourly basis.

I'm still testing it so let me know if you see any issues.

Very cool feature! I wonder if there's some way to demarkate favorite tags when you look at an image? Maybe they could be bold or something in the taglist.

Also, maybe it would be cool to have the list of favorited tags with a "hide/show" button, when you browse the favtag page. I don't know if that messes with caching or anything though, just something I thought would be nice to have as an additional feature.

EDIT2: One more suggestion, then I promise I'll shut up forever*: would it be possible instead of having singular tags to also have a group of tags, or phrases? Like say, "suzumiya_haruhi_no_yuuutsu genderswap". Instead of separating by spaces maybe we could separate by commas. I guess this might be a bandwidth thing again, so perhaps the total number of tags you can use could still be 20.

* Disclaimer: may or may not shut up forever

But the thing is, phane, that I don't think that many people use them and limiting them renders them almost useless to those who do use them. For example, if I check my favorites which searches for "fav:memegui order:fav" I won't be able to search for anything in my favorites without removing order:fav nor can I sort with order:score and of course I can only search for one tag in my favorites in stead of two.
Another thing I used to append to certain searches along with order:score was -rating:safe because tags aren't always as reliable as rating for broad searches. This is impossible now, of course.
As for negative searches, which I'm guessing are used even less than metatags, I stand by what I said before and have also found something interesting: If you go to 'Notes' and click on 'Translation Requests' it will search for "-manga -doujin translation_request". Naturally, member level users will now get the notice that they can't search for more than two tags (though it doesn't appear sometimes which can be confusing).

I don't know if this has been discussed or if this is happening to anyone else other than me, but after the change in interface, the forum link will not become bold when there are new posts.

I have to manually check myself to see if there are new posts in the forum.

For me, when I come to the forum, threads with new posts are bold, but if I check one of them and go back to the forum, nothing is bold anymore so I have to check manually which ones have new posts.
