Artist tagging help

My Chinese is terrible, but google Translate suggests Mi Xu and Twitter accounts from people with the same name would appear to verify it. It's either that or Mi Tsuo which is probably an alternative romanization.

Why Chinese? The artist's comments, profiles and image titles are in Japanese, and so are her tweets. Did she say she's Chinese somewhere?

"Mitsuo" would be how 「蜜緒」 is read and romanised in Japanese. I'd recommend Mitsuo_bz1214.

If the name is intended to be in Chinese, then "Mi Xu" would be the correct Pinyin transcription. The second most common alternative is Wade-Giles, which would transcribe it as "Mi Hsu", but I think Danbooru's policy is to use Pinyin for Chinese names.

I assumed it was Chinese, as the name isn't present in ENAMDICT, and the majority of references on Google I could find not referring to the artist were in Chinese. That lead me to believe it was a Chinese person writing in Japanese, though I could be wrong. I suppose we could err on the side of the language being used.

I think it is a valid name in both Chinese and Japanese, but that particular kanji/hanzi combination is somewhat rare. My sources are not that reliable though.

I could go over her twitter/blog. Let's see what I can find.

Edit: Hmm... she lists her location as 中部. This could refer to the Japanese Chūbu region... or the Taiwanese Zhongbu region. That wasn't particularly useful.

Edit2: Aha! Found this tweet in the Google cache of her twitter account. It's about (Japanese) Mahjong, which uses pseudo-Chinese terms:

bz1214 蜜緒

とりあえず数字の読み方だけ覚えた。確か1から、イーリャンサンスーウーローチーパーキュウだったかな。中国語訳分からんけど、微妙にカッコいいw

Right now I know how to count the numbers. IIRC it goes like this from number one: Ii, Ryan, San, Suu, Uu, Ryuu, Chii, Paa, Kyuu(sic). I don't really get Chinese, but this is sort of cool lol

This settles it.
