I thought I'd bring this up again, since it just seems to have petered out with no actual decision being made. The subject seems to have be attacked from all angles in that thread, so I don't have much to add except +1 in favor of replacing milf with mature or something similar.
I'd say so. Though I'm sure people will want to split them into two different tags or have mature_male, or some such thing, as a subset of mature. While I personally don't think all that is necessary, I wouldn't be against it.
I oppose the mature and milf tags. I think Setsunator is on the right track.
Such tags demand a lot of subjective judgment, and we might well end up with it being just applied to any curvy woman not in a school uniform or to any man who needs a shave.
As an age-related tag, what age range is it intended to cover, and how do you tell that?
Does it apply older characters in their 60's & up?
If not, where's the upper border? Is Auron mature or not?
How about Solid Snake? (42, but looks much older.)
Does it apply to teens who look like they're in their 20's? (i.e. "mature for their age")
How about pre-teens who look like they're full teens or older, like Naba Chizuru from Negima?
The reason this never went anywhere was because no one could come up with a reasonably objective definition for the tag.

If we keep old man separate like above then not likely, because as you said he looks much older.

No, it's not about being "mature for their age" it's about being mature looking in general. However, like shota/loli, if someone looked to be one age and was actually a completely different age you'd tag what they look like.

...You mean the tag where we have a long-running thread just to determine whether it applies or not?
That's about the last example I'd use for tag clarity, and it's for the same reason. How do you determine the age of a character just by visual cues? It turns out to be highly subjective, and that's bad as tags go.
The only reason we accept such a mess for loli & shota is because we have to have something to keep our advertisers happy.
So, let's play a game with Solid Snake. For each of these, rate them old man, mature, or neither (just a scruffy, young man). Please also rate your certainty. (Ignore any old snake tags and make your own judgment.)
The problem with Solid Snake is that he's spanned several games at different apparent ages, and even at his youngest, he was a pretty scruffy looking guy. Does that make him mature? IMHO, no. But someone else might disagree or take a chiseled 20-something face for the lined face of someone in his 30's or vice versa.
And this doesn't even get into all the troubles for women with this tag.
